New for 2010: The Much More Than Madness Walk in Windsor & Eton
It is 250 years since King George III started his near 60 year reign in 1760.
King George III suffered bouts of seeming “madness” (you may have seen the movie “The Madness of King George”), but his life was filled with so much more - hence the name of the walk….
He had 15 children with his beloved wife Charlotte for whom he took on both Buckingham House (later Buckingham Palace) and Frogmore House in Windsor Great Park. His support of Eton College led to the creation of the College holiday “The Fourth of June”, still celebrated today, which remembers King George III’s birthday. He came to love Windsor above all his other residences, waking the Castle from a 60 year slumber.
Come on a gentle guided walk around Windsor and hear about this amazing King in the place he came to love most. A half day booking can be tailored to your schedule: either just take a walk around the town or include a guided tour of Windsor Castle (entrance fee applies).
Spring to Summer
The slow-motion firework display performed by the flowers is very much underway with the rhododendrons in full bloom and the roses ready to take centre stage. The long, light evenings are perfect for a pre-dinner walk. Look forward to seeing you soon.
